“Oddball” Heritage walk from Garforth to St. Aidan’s and back
September 16, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm BST
For anyone who isn’t joining Sunday’s cycle ride but would still like to get out for a bit of fresh air, with a little bit of a local historical theme, why not join Luisa & Damian for a walk?
We will be walking from Garforth to St. Aidan’s where, as part of National Heritage Day, the big walking dragline machine (a.k.a. “Oddball”) will be open for visitors to look inside and find out more about how this amazing piece of mining hardware worked. We will then take a different route back to Garforth.
We will meet for a pre-walk coffee at The Station House Café at Garforth Station at 10am, and we will call in at Rivers Meet for lunch before visiting Oddball. The walk distance is around 12 miles, mostly flat and on good paths/tracks and disused railway lines. It incorporates good rural views, attractive woodland, canal, the RSPB wetland centre and a couple of nice cafes!
